Why Does CoQ10 Matter for Fertility?
CoQ10 is naturally involved in mitochondrial energy production. Mitochondria are often described as the powerhouses of cells because they help produce the energy cells need to function.
This is particularly relevant to reproductive health. Eggs require substantial amounts of energy as they mature, while sperm rely on energy for movement and other functions involved in fertilization.
CoQ10 levels also naturally change with age, which is one reason researchers have become interested in whether supporting mitochondrial function could play a role in reproductive health.
CoQ10 and Female Fertility
Research on CoQ10 and female fertility has focused heavily on women undergoing assisted reproductive treatment, particularly those with diminished ovarian reserve.
